» Authorities Sign Administrative Rule to Establish the 8th IACP South American Conference Date: 03/03/2010 Source: Fagga Eventos Luiz Henrique da Silveira, Governor of the State of Santa Catarina, and Ronaldo José Benedet, Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Defense of the State of Santa Catarina, signed an administrative rule establishing the 8th IACP South American Executive Policing Conference Organizing Committee. Held in Casa d´Agronomica, official residence of the Governor, and covered by the press, the ceremony was attended by Interpol delegate José Ricardo Botelho, representing Luiz Fernando Correa, Director of IACP South American Office and General Director of the Department of Federal Police. Other authorities present were Antonio Gavazzoni, Secretary of State Finances; Justiniano Pedroso, Secretary of Justice and Citizenship; Valter Gallina, Regional Secretary for the Metropolitan Region of Florianopolis; Dário Berger, Mayor of Florianopolis; Maurício Eskudlark, Director of the Civil Police; Eliésio Rodrigues, Commander of the Military Police; Álvaro Maus, Commander of the Fire Department; Federal Police and Federal Highway Police representatives. IACP Director Paul Santiago visits Florianopolis Paul Santiago, Director of the IACP International Policing Division, visited Florianopolis between February 2 and 4 to initiate the contacts with Public Security Authorities of the State of Santa Catarina. During his stay in Santa Catarina’s capital city, Mr. Santiago visited CentroSul Convention Center, the venue of IACP South American Conference and Interseg 2010. He also attended the launch ceremony of the event at the Official Residence of the Governor of Santa Catarina, Luiz Henrique Silveira. According to Mr. Santiago, this meeting provides an opportunity to discuss public security aspects, delivering significant benefits to society by means of quicker and more dynamic actions.
